Customarily, a lone dove is released by a family member at the end of the service, often accompanied by a Scripture reading.
White wings flutter as it ascends to join an additional 25 - 50 doves released in the distance. Once united, the winged angels circle above and begin their journey home.
This visual symbolic release can offer great comfort to grieving family members and friends.
